Effects of Vitamin D Deficiency?

Most people grew up having to take a vitamin of some sort. The vitamin might have been one big pill that was hard to swallow, or if you are of a certain age, maybe you remember having to take a Flintstone vitamin. The reason for this is because even the most nutritious foods dont give us the vitamins and the nutrients that we need to keep our bodies healthy and strong. More to the point, if we dont get the vitamins that we need, then there are symptoms and consequences that we can suffer in our minds and bodies.
For example, one of the most popular vitamins is vitamin C. Vitamin C is popular, because it helps to keep our immune systems healthy so that we dont come down with infection so easily. Many centuries ago, the importance of vitamin C was discovered when sailors would come down with a now rare disease called scurvy. When the sailors sucks on citrus fruits, it was later discovered the that citrus fruits contained what is now known as vitamin C. In addition, if a person comes down with an illness, then taking doses of vitamin c will hasten the recovery from the particular condition. Vitamin C also gives people burst of energy.

Another vitamin important to energy, and to healthy blood cells, is iron. The most common issue with iron deficiency, is with anemia. Anemia happens when the red blood cell count is low. A person with anemia will feel cold all the time, and they will be more fragile in their bones. A person with anemia has to be mindful for any bruises, cuts, or breakage, so that they dont lose more blood cells. Anemia will make them feel weak and fatigued. When a person is recovering from anemia, they will be prescribed, or advised to buy high doses of iron pills. Iron helps to create healthy red blood cells.

There are other vitamins that are necessary. Vitamin A, and D are good for the bones. The B vitamins are all good for general healthy body function, and energy. There are many other vitamins and nutrients that can be found in any good multi vitamin that helps the body to work and function as it should. If the body isnt functioning as it should because of a vitamin deficiency, it will let you know. You will feel fatigued and sluggish. You will find that you will come down with illness a lot more than you used to. Your eyes and nails might be discolored. Your hair might be brittle, or fall out. Your skin will look dull. And the list goes on.

So, its important to educated yourself as to what type of vitamins are going to be right for your needs. Getting with your doctor so that you can take a blood panel is a good first step. Your doctor can test your blood for any deficiencies, and tell you what is missing. Conversely, sometimes people can overdo vitamins, so its important for your doctor to advise you if you are taking too much of something. But for deficiencies, your doctor can help you make a plan on what to take, as well as advise you of any food sources where you can get your vitamins and nutrients naturally. Your body operates in part from chemical messages. Vitamins and nutrients are the healthy chemical messengers that your body needs to get through the day.
