I am definitely not what you would call a prolific writer. Neither am I a speed freak that churns out 4 articles per hour like an automaton. If I can research, write and edit an article in one hour I am happy. Take a look at how you can do it too.
First step: Do research about the subject.
This one is easy. You go to a search engine and type in the word or phrase that is the subject of your article. Then you read and try to understand the basics of the subject. Some ideas might present themselves while you read. Remember to visit one or two frequently asked questions pages for some good ideas.
Second step: Get up and make yourself a cup of tea.
While you are making the tea, think about what you have read. You might get some amazing angle on your subject which you can use when sitting down to write.
Third step: The write-up.
Sit down and just start writing what you think about your subject. I sometimes write a wall of words without any paragraphs or headings. I just write a solid block of text. You may do the same or you might use paragraphs as you type the text. Put as many words on the page as you can. Do not worry about spelling or typing mistakes. You can correct them in the editing phase.
Fourth step: Get up and do something else for a few minutes.
This is just a short break between the writing and editing phase. Go drink something or go stretch your legs and muscles.
Fifth step: The editing phase.
Now you start from the top and correct any grammar, typing and spelling mistakes. You may also add headings, paragraphs or a numbered list. You should test the word count and keyword density of the text in this step. Write a few words extra or change a sentence you do not like. Your article should be at least 300 words long. Try to keep the keyword density at around 1 percent.
Sixth step: Write the title.
Use an attention-grabbing phrase in the title. Your subject keyword should be included in the first 4 or 5 words of the title. Do not make a promise in the title that the article cannot deliver on. Keep your credibility intact.
Now that was my opinion on how to write an article in just under an hour. If you have a better attention span than me, you may skip steps 2 and 4. I like to have a short break between the steps, but that is just how I do it. Do what helps you to finish the article.
