Formerly you worked for a company and every week
you got rewarded on the dot and everything was okay – not great but you
had no doubts. The boss drove up in his shiny pristine car; while you
drove around in your ten year old clapped out banger – unmistakably he
was doing fantastic compared to you. Surely it is time for a change; and

boss possibly will be the hardest thing you ever do, however imagine the

one who takes the commands (or shouldn’t be); by all means be a decent
boss pay attention to to your staff (if you have any), listen to their
opinions and mull over the information they give to you. Now it’s your
appointment as the boss to collate this knowledge and put policy into
action…”failing to plan is planning to fail.”

Be meticulous
when running your own business – for certain you aspire to make money,
but not at all costs. What are the costs of business compared with just
being a member of staff? You have more duty to yourself, your household
and workers if you have any – they are all reliant on you for their
financial safety. Scary! Operating your own business commonly means
running longer hours and you may well not make any wealth from working

If you want to start a hairdressing business, you have quite a few options available.

The first option is to become an independent hairdresser in a salon. You would not be an employee of the salon. In general, you would rent a booth or space in the salon for a set amount per week or per month. You might also rent a booth for a certain percentage of your profits. Either way, you would be an independent contractor and you would be responsible for your own taxes and your own records. If you are in the United States, you would also be responsible for maintaining your own health insurance and other benefits. The reason why some people would choose this option is because it gives them their own personal business without the expense of renting out an entire building.

Another option would be to open your own salon. You would need to find adequate space, and you would also need to decide if you are going to be the only hairdresser or if you are going to have employees, as well. Many people will start a hairdressing business as the only hairdresser and then add employees as the business grows.

A third option is to have a mobile business. This could be something as simple as going to each client’s house and perform your hairdressing services in private. If you decide to do this option, you will need to make sure that you have the proper licensing so that you do not violate any local laws.

Having your own business as a hairdresser can be an exciting step in your hairdressing career. It can provide you with the independence that you desire but with an income that you can build as the years go by. There is always room for expansion, and as your experience and your client list grows – so will your profits.

One of the challenges when you start a dollar store is learning
how to handle all the little unexpected challenges associated with your
business. One of the challenges that you can expect to face at some
point will be the arrival of huge quantities of freight; all at the same
time. It might be a truck loaded with seasonal dollar store merchandise
or a huge special order you purchased. It might be multiple deliveries
all arriving at the same time. Possibly it is a combination of both. All
you know is there seems to be dollar store merchandise everywhere and
your receiving and stock room areas cannot hold everything. Here are
some quick and easy ways to deal with this when it happens to you.

Temporarily leave extra pallets of merchandise sitting in the parking
lot outside your store. Be sure to assign someone to watch the pallets.
After all, it only takes a few seconds for someone to break through the
plastic wrap and steal a carton or two of merchandise. Also be concerned
about exposure to the elements. If you have candy or food that is heat
sensitive, get it into a cooler environment as quickly as possible. If
it is raining, cover all of the pallets to safeguard the merchandise
inside from water damage.

#2) Start using the telephone. Work to
locate all of your trained merchandise stock work personnel. Ask them to
come to the store and help you work your way out of the situation. With
a well-trained employee or two pallets of dollar store merchandise can
be quickly received, priced and moved to the sales floor of your store.
From there it only takes minutes to sort and place the items in the proper location.

Double stack pallets inside your storage area. If you have a forklift
this is as easy as carefully lifting one pallet on top of another. If
you don’t have a forklift, it will require breaking down one pallet
by-hand and then placing the cartons on top of another pallet. Be sure
you have items placed so they will not fall, as the risk of injury to an
unsuspecting person can quickly take this ‘great’ idea and make it the
worst thing you have done since you decided to start a dollar store.

Take the excess pallets to a corner of the sales floor. Start with
these pallets when you are checking in your dollar store merchandise. Be
sure to tape off the area so shoppers won’t be shopping while you are
receiving and sorting freight. If you don’t have plastic tape, even a
small wall of shopping carts will do the trick for you.

To your success when you start a dollar store!
